Q: How do I get fleas off a kitten?

A: If the kitten is at least 8 weeks old, you can put topical flea treatment on him or her, such as Advantage. If the kitten is a newborn, be sure to treat the queen (mother cat) with topical flea treatment. Then manually remove the fleas from the kittens. Drop the fleas into a glass of very hot water with a few drops of dish soap to kill them. For kittens in between those ages, bathe him/her in warm water with Dawn dish washing detergent (which is also great for washing smelly dogs). Then comb the kitten with a flea comb and manually pick out any remaining fleas. Good luck with your precious kitten!
