Q from Craig in Clermont: One of my 3 cats is 15 and started to go outside the litter box. She will poop in front of the box on the mat or carpet. Why does she do this? I think her hip may hurt.
A: She needs another trip to the vet. She may have arthritis, and they can prescribe something to ease her pain. Meanwhile, she will need a litter box with a very low opening so it doesn't hurt her to step into it.
