First, give your cat a fun Christmas tree alternative, such as cat grass and catnip-filled toys. If kitty still wants to investigate the tree, make the area unsavory for her with double-sided tape such as Sticky Paws (best for use on cloth surfaces, otherwise it tends to leave annoying residue) or aluminum foil. Add scents she won't like: menthol, potpourri, citrus, and even ground pepper placed inconspicuously around the base of the tree. You can also use bitter apple spray for kitty-free zones.
