Q&A: Declawing

A question from the Twittersphere:

Q: I know you are against declawing. Who even does that anymore?

A: The cruel practice of declawing is still fairly common in the US, though it is illegal in 30+ countries. Several US cities in California have banned it, including: Berkeley, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Monica. The best animal shelters won't let you declaw, but that is difficult for them to regulate. It is up to all of us to spread information on the horrors of declawing, which is actually a partial-toe amputation.
